The Himsagar Mango is a popular mango cultivar, originating in modern-day Bangladesh and the state of West Bengal in India. Widely considered the best mangoes, the inside of Himsagar is yellow to orange in color and does not have any fiber. The fruit is medium-sized and weighs between 200 and 300 grams, out of which the pulp content is around 77%. It has a good keeping quality. It is also known as Khirsapati.
Himsagar ripens in May and it is available in the market from the second week of May to the end of June. its mostly grown in the Chapai Nawabganj district of Bangladesh and the Malda, Murshidabad, Nadia, and Hooghly districts of West Bengal, India.
100 grams of sweet fruit contains 400 units of Vitamin A, 12 grams of sugar, and 13 milligrams of Vitamin C. Ripe mangoes contain more than 60 percent carotene, which strengthens the immune system. The fiber pectin in raw mango reduces the risk of heart disease, including cholesterol, and cures constipation. Mangoes contain a lot of antioxidants, which help to retain youth.
The sodium in mangoes plays an important role in maintaining the body's water balance. Mango malic and tartaric acid maintain the alkaline levels of the body.
