- Onion: 1, finely chopped
- Tomato: 1, chopped
- Green Chilies: 2-3, chopped (adjust to taste)
- Ginger: 1 tablespoon, grated
- Turmeric Powder: 1/2 teaspoon
- Cumin Powder: 1 teaspoon
- Coriander Powder: 1 teaspoon
- Cumin Seeds: 1 teaspoon
- Bay Leaf: 1 or 2
- Cinnamon Stick: 1-inch piece
- Cloves: 3-4
- Ghee (Clarified Butter): 2 tablespoons
- Salt: to taste
- Water: 4-5 cups

Wash Rice and Lentils: Wash the rice and lentils together in cold water until the water runs clear.

Sauté Aromatics: In a large pot, heat ghee. Add cumin seeds, bay leaf, cinnamon stick, and cloves. Sauté until the spices release their aroma.

Add Vegetables: Add chopped onions, green chilies, and grated ginger. Sauté until the onions turn golden brown.

Add Spices: Add turmeric powder, cumin powder, and coriander powder. Mix well.

Add Rice and Lentils: Add the washed rice and lentils to the pot. Stir to coat them with the spices.
