Baby Baila, or Baila Pona, is the juvenile stage of the Scribbled Goby (Glossogobius giuris). These tiny freshwater gems are highly sought after for their incredibly soft, melt-in-the-mouth texture. In Bengali cuisine, "Pona" (juvenile) fish are considered a delicacy because they possess a sweetness and tenderness that is unique to their young age.
